General CharacteristicsC4 fraction is a mixture of liquified hydrocarbons with prevailing content of 4 carbon atoms in their molecules. It is manufactured by fractional distillation of pyrolysis gases from steam cracking of oil fractions. It is an easily volatile, flammable and combustible substance of characteristic odour.
C4 fraction is used as an intermediate for the production of chemical substances (1,3-butadiene and isobutane) and is used during its whole life cycle under strictly controlled conditions defined in article 18(4) of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 REACH. The product can only be used as an intermediate for the manufacture of other chemical substances as defined in Article 3 (15) of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 REACH and strictly controlled conditions defined in Article 18 (4) of REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 must be observed. The product must not be used in any other way.
The product is classified as hazardous pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 CLP.
