General CharacteristicsBenzene is manufactured by pyrolysis of oil fractions and subsequent processing of pyrolysis gasoline. It is a transparent, colourless, highly combustible, inflammable, volatile liquid, free of impurities and water.
Benzene is used as an intermediate for the production of chemical substances (ethyl benzene, caprolactam, aniline etc.)
The product can only be used as an intermediate for the manufacture of other chemical substances as defined in Article 3 (15) of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 REACH and strictly controlled conditions defined in Article 18 (4) of REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 must be observed. The product must not be used in any other way.
The product is classified as hazardous pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 CLP.

Packaging, Storage, Transportation
Benzene is stored in tightly closed, heated storage tanks. It is delivered in steel railway tanks (ordinary or heated, according to temperature conditions).
