Liquid ammonia is liquified gaseous ammonia manufactured by synthesis of hydrogen and nitrogen. It is a transparent colourless liquid of pungent unbreathable odour.
CAS: 7664-41-7
Liquid ammonia is used as an intermediate for production of chemicals (nitric acid, fertilizers etc.), component for formulation of mixtures (primarily fertilizers) and as a processing aid, non-processing aid and auxiliary agent (e.g. for cooling, nitrogen and sulphur oxides reduction, nitriding of metal surfaces, extraction and neutralization agent, etc.).
